Healthy Deodorant Alternatives

Once upon a time, long before children and marriage, I NEVER looked at ingredient labels for ANYTHING, including personal care products.  When I started using Young Living in 2007, I began learning that ingredients DO MATTER and they do make a difference!  I started to make better choices for me and my family, including a healthy deodorant.  I loved Young Living's deodorant, Mountain Mist. However, they decided to quit carrying it, and I will be honest, the CinnaFresh works great, it just doesn't last as long, as in we go through it awfully fast!!!   (It actually is a natural anti-perspirant, so if you like that, you should give it a try!)  However, supply chains are weird these days, so the CinnaFresh is ALSO out of stock at the time of this writing!  

I also have a budget; my hubby and I are working toward a debt-free life.  This means doing whatever I can to stay within a certain amount, even when it comes to my Young Living Monthly Subscription!  

Time to get CREATIVE, right friends???

I have had fantastic success making my own deodorant.  It works great, I can customize it with the essential oils that I love, and work best for us.  I will say there is a detox period you go through if you are switching from the store-bought, not-so-great ingredients to natural products, so be warned! Here is a recipe for a Detoxifying Armpit Clay Mask you may want to do before starting your toxin-free journey.  Detox Armpits  Thank you, Wellness Mama, for your great info and recipes!  

Here is the recipe I used:    Simple Homemade Deodorant     This is super easy to make, I promise!  I added Melrose and Lavender essential oils to my batch.  I leave mine in the bathroom in a nice Ball 125 ML mason jar, applying a pea amount to each armpit daily.  It works GREAT, keeps me comfortable and nice-smelling all day long!  It lasts a LONG time too!!! 

I recommend DIY for you; so fun and satisfying to use products made at home, with ingredients you can trust!

PUMPKIN SOUP

Ingredients:
2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
1 Large Onion, Diced
1 29 oz Can Pumpkin Puree
3 cans 14.5 oz. Broth of choice
2 Drops of Sage Vitality Oil
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Drop Black Pepper Vitality oil
1/2 cup Heavy Cream
Sour Cream
8 Bacon Slices, cooked and crumbled

Directions:  Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.  Saute' onion and garlic in butter for 2 minutes.  Stir in pumpkin, broth, Sage Vitality, salt and Black Pepper Vitality.  Transfer to slow cooker and cook for 4 hours on Low.  (I sauteed in my Instant Pot and pressure-cooked on Manual/High for 5 minutes.)

If blending, carefully blend until smooth.  Add 1/2 cup heavy cream and serve with a dollop of Sour Cream and a sprinkle of bacon.

Muscle Testing....WHAT in the world is it and Does it really Work?

What in the world am I talking about?  Yes, I was once like you and had never heard of muscle testing, much less knew what it was!  However, since I began my journey years ago into a more natural approach to self-care, I am more open to trying new things. Here's my journey to share with you, my friend! 

I first heard of Muscle Testing from my Young Living enroller and friend, Sonya Swan.  She has a great intro video to get you started.  Yes, I did use it a few times to ask my body what supplements it needed for that specific day.  It seemed to work pretty well, even though it feels weird at first.  I believe God puts His Spirit in us and we really are asking for clarity and direction from our intuition that He gives us.  We are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made, right?  

As I begin to have some health issues I couldn't seem to resolve on my own, I asked a friend I trust if she knew where I could go to dig deeper and get to the root cause of my outward symptoms.  She recommended Innate Health Solutions of Des Moines.  My husband and I made an appointment together, went to our first visit, filled out the questionnaire and experienced our very first Base Testing with Izzy Buckles.  I went from being a slight skeptic to a full believer that this works and Izzy knows her stuff!  My initial reading came back saying I am sensitive to Wheat, Corn, White Sugar, Fruit Sugar, Artificial Sweeteners.  NO WONDER I feel like crap every single time I eat those things!!!  My innate "intuition" was trying to tell me by the outward symptoms I manifested each time I binged on all the things above.  This gave me the confirmation I needed to jump forward and start making better choices every day.  

Oh...and they test you to see which supplements your body currently needs.   They have clean, natural supplements, raised on a farm in Wisconsin that you can visit, just like my Young Living farms.  Izzy also tests you for whatever supplements you want to take, just bring them in for your visit  (ie...my YL supplements.)  

I will share one more cool confirmation story with you that is currently happening!  My husband works in a toxic environment and is exposed to junk daily.   He was home for three weeks during this virus scare.  Once he started going back to work, he has added and increased each week, another supplement to support removing toxins from his system. Coincidence?  I don't think so, how about you?  We are both feeling better every week, have lost around ten pounds each.  I am so aware of how much better I feel when I eat to live instead of eating my old junk foods (for me!)  My energy level has increased, I feel better overall, and I have more mental clarity.
